What should it include, well I am glad you asked.
- Rest and Recovery. I believe every pitcher needs an off season to give their arm at least 2 1/2 months of complete rest after the season, I really lean more toward 3 to 4 months. Now is an excellent time to work on your strength and conditioning.
- Strength and Conditioning Program. The Off season is the time you can get stronger and add some serious MPH’s to your fastball. You need a total body workout that focuses on becoming more explosive. Pitching is a dynamic, powerful activity and to get that fastball where you want it is going to take a strong lower body. - Work On Your Mechanics. Your mechanics is the foundation of everything you will do as a pitcher. You should have powerful,explosive, arm healthy mechanics that start from the ground up. There you go, 3 areas that you can start working on right now. The rest and recovery is for your arm. The rest of your body needs to get to work.
